Capita Managed IT Solutions and partner eircom deliver a leading-edge technology solution that has provided an enhanced experience for Power NI customers

This project remit included providing telecoms support, development and design expertise. To meet this critical part of the project Capita turned to eircom NI. Collectively a technology upgrade solution for Power NI was devised, developed and delivered.

eircom NI replaced Power NI’s end-of-life Nortel platform with systems from Cisco including Unified Call Manager, Gateways, Cisco Agent Desktop, Network switches, IP phones and Voice Recording. The new technology improved significantly on the systems and processes the company had previously. It provided reliability, capacity, resilience, flexibility, functionality, efficiency and a much more secure platform upon which to meet the needs of Power NI customers.

NIE and Power NI – Enduring Solution

NIE and Power NI – Enduring Solution- supporting the competitive NI energy market

This project known as the ‘Enduring Solution’ commenced in 2010 and was launched in May 2012.

The Enduring Solution project provided NIE and Power NI with modern IT solutions and infrastructure supporting a flexible and scalable platform for the open electricity market.

Energia – Customer Care and Billing system upgrade

Capita Managed IT Solutions has successfully supported a full system upgrade of Energia’s Customer Care and Billing system (CC&B) to v2.3.1

Challenge

Oracle premier support for v1.5.20 of CC&B was due to end in June 2011, therefore it was imperative that Energia upgraded to the latest version in line with this date.

 

Solution

Capita undertook development to upgrade specific custom code modules, interfaces and reports to be aligned with v2.3.1 of CC&B.

 

Result

Capita met all the objectives of the Energia CC&B upgrade project, delivering a solution which met all requirements in an agreed timescale.

Northern Ireland Electricity - Job Management System

Capita Managed IT Solutions has successfully completed a technology transformation of the Northern Ireland Electricity Job Management System (JMS).

Challenge

The legacy JMS application was written in a technology that was no longer supported by the vendor, meaning the stability and scalability of the system could not be guaranteed.  
 

Solution

Capita managed a technology transformation project, working closely with NIE to ensure that the project was delivered to defined timescales and to meet specific requirements.


Result

Capita delivered a silution which has benefitted NIE from a fully supported technology stack, a robust and resilient infrastructure and the ability to be easily scaled and enhanced in the future.

Severn Trent Water - Printing Solution

Capita Managed IT Solutions implement a printing solution to support environmental plans and support flexible working.

Challenge

Severn Trent Water were consolidating offices into one main office bringing together 1,700 staff with 1,300 hot desks.  Their fleet of printers were aged and highly inefficient in terms of printing output and power usage.  Security of documents was also an issue.


Solution

Capita worked in partnership with Konica Minolta to deliver printer device refresh with fax and scanning capabilities and software which tracks and reports on individual users' printing levels.  The solution also provided 'follow me' printing to support enhanced security and flexible working arrangements.


Result

Cost reductions, enhanced security and reduced environmental impact have been achieved.
